The community-based day services program at the Career & Community Exploration Center offers comprehensive and enriching day and employment services for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. New England Village utilizes a person-centered approach in developing a plan for each individual to engage in vocational training that builds skills, is rewarding, and provides opportunities for community membership.
Person-Centered Approach to Career Exploration & Planning
Individuals not currently working receive complementary supports in our integrated Community-Based Day Services (CBDS) program. Utilizing a person-centered approach toward career exploration and planning, the CBDS program employs a variety of tools, including skills training and other community-based experiences, all of which can serve as a pathway toward employment. Program offerings are highly customized and are established based on an individual’s personal interests and motivation.
CBDS programs include:
- Community outings
- Vocational and life skills curriculum
- Art and music
Hear from Our Program Participants
“I have gotten to meet new people, and I am very proud to get my check and ride my bike to the bank to cash it! My friends at work call me ‘amigo,’ which means ‘friend’! It makes me so proud. There are so many caring people out there who help and support me.”
