New England Village’s Executive Leadership Team and the Development Committee have identified five main giving priorities.
These giving priorities are aligned with our strategic plan and are central to our progress. It is through the generous support of philanthropic partners like you that we can continue to be one of the most sought-after organizations for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Pillar One: Staff Recruitment, Engagement, & Retention
Roles in the human services sector are often neglected, yet remain a vitally crucial component of today’s workforce. To help solve this, New England Village has developed several initiatives to support the retention and career mobility of our workforce. This pillar prioritizes the 3 Cs of employee engagement — Competence, Career, & Care — using the following strategies:
- Consultant Support for Culture Carrier Interviews and Audit, Leadership Training, and Hiring and Performance Management System
- Implementation of a Crisis Relief Lifestyle Spending Account
- Vasco V4 Language Translator Devices
- Human Services Leadership Institute Training

Pillar Two: Ensuring Wellness – Aging & Complex Needs
To meet the special needs and chronic health conditions of our aging population — such as dementia, loss of mobility, vision loss, and conditions associated with low physical activity levels — we must stay up to date with technology and specialized equipment. Support for this pillar will go towards:
- Accessibility for aging in place such as ADA-compliant residential bathrooms, wheelchair ramps and recreation equipment
- Care Coordination for an aging population through Electronic Health Records

Pillar Three: Facility Enhancements – Environmental Mitigation & Capital Projects
New England Village’s School Street location consists of 83 acres housing buildings built between the late 1700s to the early 2000s. To ensure a green and sustainable future, we must maintain our facilities and grounds to mitigate environmental hazards and build to meet the needs of those we support. By investing in this pillar, you are helping preserve and enhance the place the individuals we support call home with:
- Drainage/pipework to address runoff and ponding issues
- Energy-efficient windows, doors and roofs in all residences
- Completion of wireless upgrade to our School Street location
- Maintenance of roadways at the School Street location
- Preservation of House 1
- Upgrades and renovations to “The Red Cape”

Pillar Four: Community Engagement & Equitable Employment
One of New England Village’s goals is to increase awareness of opportunities and create new skills through technology for our employees and the individuals we support. In addition, we are dedicated to developing corporate partnerships in order to expand our employment services to more of these individuals. Investing in this pillar will directly support workforce engagement and employment through initiatives such as:
- Implementation of software such as Navigating Life
- Purchase of additional vehicles to ensure the individuals we support who want to work have a reliable source of transportation
- The addition of a job coach to expand employment services to more individuals

Pillar Five: Expanding Human Services to New Populations
This pillar is centered on a pilot program that would expand our services to new populations. There are many opportunities for New England Village to expand and reach markets we have identified as areas of need in the community. Such expansion could include:
- Establishing a respite home
- Expanding in-home supports
- Expanding offerings at the Sollar Wellness Center to include support for the growing “Turning 22” population
