Employment Services

People working on a projectNew England Village (NEV) has been helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities maximize their vocational potential and earn a salary through meaningful employment since its inception. This program offers opportunities for paid employment and skill acquisition towards the goal of competitive employment.

Program staff provide members with consistent and varied work opportunities through independent job placements, supervised crew assignments or through clerical, mail room, janitorial, or maintenance positions at New England Village. New England Village is continually seeking community partners who will provide valuable hands-on experience and career exploration opportunities to the individuals we serve in exchange for reliable and dependable employees who bring a positive attitude and energy to their jobs.

In addition, New England Village operates two employment training programs designed to foster skill acquisition and career exploration: a lawn care service and a cleaning crew. Using a person-centered model, staff works closely with individuals to help them acquire skills that can be transferred into meaningful employment within the community and to secure jobs where they are paid minimum wage or more.

NEV’s Colchester Neighborhood Farm (CNF) is a social enterprise that has the capacity to employ up to six crew members along with non-disabled farm workers. As a certified organic community farm, CNF provides a tremendous resource for local families and restaurants and offers an integrated work environment for the people we support. With heated greenhouses, we offer year round employment opportunities.
