Careers at New England Village

Shalee McDonough began her career working with intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals as a paraprofessional in the public school system. She quickly realized that she had found her passion and in 2012 joined NEV as a Direct Support Professional in our Residential Program as a live-in staff member.

The satisfaction Shalee gets from working with the individuals she serves inspires her to go above and beyond in her position. Her patience and compassion along with her positive attitude and outstanding commitment to her job are markedly apparent and has translated into several awards for her as well as a promotion. In 2015, she earned the NEV Advocate of the Year Award, a nomination which came from her colleagues. NEV was not alone in its recognition of Shalee’s high level of commitment to her job and the people she serves. She also received the Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP) Advocate of the Year Award for the Southeast Region for 2016. She was promoted to Assistant Program Manager in 2016.

NEV values her ability to creatively implement supports that respect individual preference and encourage self determination and choice.
