Pablo Picasso once said: “The artist is a receptacle for emotions
that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth,
from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.”
In January, under the direction of Art Director Melanie Rose-Zagwyn
and through money donated to the Kimberly Anne Markell Fund, NEV
artisans had the opportunity to experience first-hand what inspires
two local portrait artists who are participating in our
Artist-in-Residence program: Elizabeth Pothier and Cindy Chase.
We invite you to view scrapbook photos from each of these workshops
and from a follow-up class conducted in-house. To date, three
artists have participated in this special program with a fourth,
local potter Kate DeSantis, scheduled to visit our campus later this
month.

programs and over
the years NEV artisans have created some extraordinary pieces of
work using a variety of mediums. This edition of Village
Connections also includes photos from the Plymouth Planning
Committee’s 8th annual area art exhibit at Citizen’s Bank in
Plymouth. This show celebrates the creative talents of people who
are involved in Human Services. NEV residents, day program
participants and staff all had artwork on display. It was a
wonderful opportunity for our artists to showcase some of the
exceptional work they do and meet other area artists.
