Supervisory |
|
The campus lifestyle and
continuing professional development programs at New England Village attract
a high caliber staff who are chosen
on the basis of education, experience, and sensitivity to the needs of
Village residents. All staff members receive a comprehensive orientation
program and on-site supportive supervisory coverage seven days a week, with
senior residential staff on call evenings, holidays and weekends.
Supervisors work in each home side by side with the other staff members, and
management visits each residence regularly to assist staff and residents.

Advocacy |
|
Advocating for residents is an
important responsibility for the Village staff. They monitor the physical,
psychological, and personal needs of each individual, and consult regularly
with family members on progress or setbacks regarding residents' Individual
Support Plans. Perhaps most importantly, staff members act as catalysts for
motivating residents to grow towards independence and to explore new
opportunities.

Medical and Nursing Staff |
|
The nursing staff at New England Village monitors the overall health
of residents, coordinates health care services and regularly trains staff
members in health care and hygiene issues unique to the residents. They work
closely with staff, families, and medical providers to communicate health
and treatment needs. Each Village resident has a local primary care physician for
annual physicals and routine medical care. New England Village also
maintains a comprehensive resource list of medical specialists, if a
referral is necessary.

We contract with specialists
who represent a wide range of disciplines required to meet the needs of
village residents: psychological counseling; psychiatry; physical therapy;
occupational therapy; speech, language and alternative communication;
mobility training for the visually impaired. Music, art and dance are also
offered for their therapeutic value.
