Paper-Maché Egg Decorating
The artists were introduced to the discipline of Ukrainian egg decorating and observed highly decorated, colorful and pattered eggs. The Ukrainian technique involves applying hot wax, several dye baths and a great deal of patience! We chose a different technique to create exotic and colorful eggs - paper-maché.

Having attached a cord for hanging and adding a few pebbles to the inside of the egg which creates a rattling noise, the eggs were ready for their first coat of paper-maché. The first coat is a white paper layer which is then followed by a colorful tissue paper layer and of course, plenty of gooey paper-maché gel!! Some artist’s chose to express their individuality by creating a themed egg; Josh made an army camouflage egg while Lisa Perkins chose a Halloween theme.
