Goodbye Old Friend!
In 1978, after a two-year search, the perfect bell was found for the Village’s 40-foot bell tower.
The bronze bell, which was cast in 1850, was donated to New England Village by Our Lady of Assumption School in Chelsea.  Sadly, after withstanding New England weather for 28 years, NEV’s most photographed landmark – the bell tower, had to be taken down this month for safety reasons.  The bell now has a place of honor at the entrance of the Sheingold Building parking lot.
