Hanukkah Gift Swap

Each year at Hanukkah, our Jewish residents get together for a celebration of this festival of lights.  The evening includes the lighting of the menorah, reciting the prayers, enjoying a dinner of potato latkes with applesauce or sour cream, a friendly game of dreidel, and the gift swap.

This year Michael Hackmeyer lit the menorah and led the reading of the prayer with Dr. Bryan Efron.  Before dinner was served, the group shared memories of past Hanukkah celebrations with their families.  After dinner, Bryan organized a game of dreidel.  After several spins, the person left with the most “chips” in his pot was none other than Bryan!

The evening concluded with the gift swap.  Linda Berkovich chose a talking alarm clock, Mike Hackmeyer walked away with a fleece blanket, and Janet Hirsch’s gift was a puzzle.
